Rad Hat laboratory

On wednesday 26th of October 2016 we opened Open-source laboratory of Red Hat at Faculty of electrical engineering. This is one form of strong partnership, that started between the IT leader Red Hat and Dept. of Computer Science from CTU in Prague. 

Another success was at 27. 10. , when the common project "Quality Assurance System for Internet of Things Technology" of Red Hat and Department of Computer Science gained the grant from TAČR.

Michal Trnka, our PhD student, was elected for Fulbright for 2017/2018. He will study one year at Baylor university in Texas.

It is a second PhD student from Dept. of Computer Science in two years, who gained this prestigious scholarship.

Novel ways to analyze genomic data

Researchers from the Intelligent Data Analysis team developed new techniques improving computational analysis of gene expression data. To this end, they were able to leverage the known ways that genes regulate each other in bacteria. Their method was published in the journal BMC Bioinformatics.

Student Starcraft AI Tournament

Student Starcraft AI Tournament is an educational event organized by Michal Čertický from our dept. since 2011. It serves as a challenging competitive environment for students of AI and Computer Science, as well as other AI and Broodwar enthousiasts. They are submitting the bots, which are programmed in C++ or Java using the custom API BWAPI to play 1v1 StarCraft matches against one another. 

Anyone can submit a bot and play, but only individual students can score points. Lets try it!

UPE seeks for new talents in IT

Since 2013 an elite association UPE has its branch at the Czech technical university in Prague, bringing together excellent students from the fields of IT. Right now new members are recruited. UPE Council plans to offer membership and benefits of the association to 20 new students in computer science. The standards for selection are not only an excellent study results, but also publications, participation in conferences, awards or activity in promotion of science.
