The goal of doctoral studies is to prepare graduates for scientific work. By attaining higher qualifications, including knowledge of foreign languages, Ph.D. graduates will significantly increase their career opportunities. A Ph.D. programme at FEE is carried out through full-time and combined (part-time) forms of study. Full-time study at FEE CTU generally takes 4 years, while the combined form of study generally takes 5 years, with the option of interrupting the studies.
See the list of doctoral study programmes at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
More information about the doctoral studies at the faculty can be found in the Applicants section.

The insurance company will issue an official document which will ensure you to get a health service whilst in the Czech Republic for free. Please submit the copy of this document to Office for Research (Ing. Marie Duchoslavová) as soon as possible after the commencement of the study.
If you are coming from a non-EU country, you are obliged to have and pay health care insurance (except for the holders of a Czech Republic government scholarship). Doctoral student fills in the ISP form for the entire study period (4 years for full-time form, 5 years for part time form of study) in cooperation with the Supervisor. They choose at least 4, maximum of 6, compulsory courses (courses code must be entered in the ISP form), where minimum of 2 of them are courses teaching in one of the accredited doctoral study programme.
Credits for courses which are not taught in one of the accredited branch of study (means maximum of 2 of courses from CTU Master´s degree programme and/or courses taught at another university) approves the Chairperson of the Branch Board – each of this courses could be valued at most by 4 credits. Doctoral student can choose also optional courses (no credits) and other planned study activities (courses for his pedagogical practice, foreign stay).
The ISP form signed by doctoral student, Supervisor, the Head of the Department and the Chairperson of the Branch Board, is presented to the Secretary of the Department for further processing (original ISP to Office for Research, one copy belongs to the doctoral student, one to the supervisor). Courses entered in the ISP form are simultaneously recorded in KOS.
Only courses from the list and starting with letters/code XP and/or XEP are to be chosen freely; course from other universities may be chosen upon submitting the approved ISP form page 3 to Office for Research (Ing. Marie Duchoslavová).
The ISP form must be submitted by September 30, 2019 (or 30 days after the commencement of the study). See the list of subjects of doctoral studies.
Doctoral students fill out the Examination results and evaluation of Ph.D. student form (SH) before the beginning of the semester and then have the results of examinations recorded in the form by tutor. The results of examination must be recorded in SH and KOS. At the end of the semester the Supervisor writes in the SH form a written evaluation of the results and proposes credits for pedagogical and research activities and publications, together with definite written statement on whether the student is eligible to continue in study or not (negative decision must be clearly explained and justified).
The Supervisor submits the SH and ISP forms to the Chairperson of the Branch Board through the mediation of the Head of the Department. The Chairperson of the Branch Board and the Head of the Department comments the evaluation. Both are entitled to suggest the termination of the study.
Doctoral student submit the original copy of the SH to Office for Research (Ing. Marie Duchoslavová) through the mediation of the Secretary of the Department (one copy belongs to doctoral student, one to the supervisor).
Deadline for submission: February 28, SH and ISP forms for the winter semester; September 30, SH and ISP forms for the summer semester.
The tuition fees at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering depend on the level of your studies. The tuition fee for doctoral programmes is 138 000 CZK per one academic year (69 000 CZK per semester). These estimates are based on full-time enrolment.
Compared to the level of fees elsewhere in the European Union or in the US, the fees at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering can be considered modest. The faculties of CTU function as independent bodies within the university and therefore reserve the right to change the fees slightly each semester.
